The different projects shaping Calgary's western gateway

There is no single project called Calgary's west expansion. Along the Trans-Canada Highway, the planning picture is a collection of sites with different neighbours and different questions to answer.

The City's corridor study names West Crestmont Phase 4, Shape, WinSport/Canada Olympic Park and Medicine Hill. Its study area includes Valley Ridge, Greenwood/Greenbriar and Crestmont, alongside land that remains undeveloped.

Same highway, different neighbourhood questions

For someone considering a home here, the useful comparison is local. A new connection might change a daily drive; nearby shops could make an errand easier; construction beside a property would be a more immediate consideration. None of those effects can be assumed simply because a site appears on a corridor map.

This is a guide to the area's planning geography, not an announcement that all four sites have received new approvals. Following each proposal separately is how we will keep track of what is actually changing on Calgary's western edge.
